Keeping the FANTASY is a must in my designs. This final degree project is inspired by the tale of One Thousand and One Nights. I carried out an investigation that would provide me with information about the history of the story, the time in which it takes place, its own characteristics, as well as the aesthetic innovations that could be transferred to present time.
To carry out this work I rely on the evocative and exotic ballet Scheherazade from 1910 composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov as a poem symphonic and later adapted as a ballet. The choreographer Michel Fokine and the set designer Leon Bakst were the first to bring it to scene with this format. A real stimulating source of inspiration.
During my childhood I attended dance classes and shows where dance was combined with music, costumes and everything that was necessary for an attractive and harmonious staging. In this way, my interest in the production of theater and ballet garments, props and decoration has been forged, that is the harmony that I seek to convey with this work.
The handmade headdresses, jewelry with pearls and feathers, the use of colorful and shiny fabrics, combine perfectly and bring ancestral cultures closer to today´s world.
